By profession, I am a philosopher and a lawyer. By nature, however, I have always been interested in how the world really works. One occasion to gain insight into it was the radio programme I produced at university. It ran for 3 years under the title "Postmodern Pimpernel", a play on the Hungarian title ("Modern Pimpernel") of Leslie Howard's 1941 remake of the 1934 classic, "The Scarlet Pimpernel". In an act of rediscovery of my own traditions I have dedicated also this blog to the "Postmodern Pimpernel" - and not only because it sounds good. In fact, both preceding Pimpernels embodied virtues I esteem the most: An aversion against ideologies, moral independence and a sense of humour. What I certainly do not share with them is their having a secret identity. That is for the simple reason that I do not live at the time of either the Jacobin Terror or National Socialism.
